Ten Little Dinosaurs by Pattie Schnetzler

This is a good choice for any parent longing to move beyond the grip of Baby Einstein. Cute drawings and clever rhymes fill this little book. The vocabulary is above-average and the author is careful to use REAL dinosaur names. -Rhiannon

DOG by Matthew Van Fleet

This very cute book with "real live" pictures is a great choice for those new to the library!! The pages are unusually sturdy for board books with pull tabs (allowing the child to "wag" the dogs' tails or help them shake themselves dry after a bath. There are also many fabric patches to allow the child to "feel" different types of dog fur. -Rhiannon

Your Personal Penguin by Sandra Boynton

This delightful story is Sandra Boynton's latest board book. Throughout the book a penguin explains to a hippo that he wants to be the hippos friend. He wants to be the Hippo's personal penguin. This is a sweet story of friendship that toddlers are sure to love. You can also download the song version of the book, sung by Davy Jones of the Monkees. It is priceless. You can see the YouTube video of them recording the song HERE

I did this book with my toddler story group. They loved it. I laminated pictures of penguins and all the kids got to hold one while I read the story. I then did a song, Have You Ever Seen a Penguin, with them where they made their personal penguins go this way and that way, dive this way and that way, and swim this way and that way. They had a blast. I highly recommend this book for all library collections ~Beag

The Pigeon Has Feelings, Too!

This "smidgeon of pigeon" book by Mo Willems, follows our fearless feathered friend in a board book about feelings. The "bus driver" wants Pigeon to show his "happy" face, but of course our hero declines. He goes through a whole range of emotions-anger, sadness, and eventually does get to happy. Another hysterical entry about the plucky pigeon. Mo Willems' background includes a stint (1994-2002), as a writer for Sesame Street. His other pigeon books are: The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog! Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! and a "smidgeon" book-The Pigeon Loves Things That Go! Xochiquetzal
